Description of Book
Eggs over Evie is a book about a thirteen year old girl whose parents are divorced and loves to cook. Evie lives with her mom but often goes over to her dad's house. Her dad took their dog when he moved out and he got married to a woman named Angie. Evie's dad is a very good cook and has his own cooking show. Over the summer Evie takes a cooking class and becomes a cooking partener with a boy whose aunt is the instructor. They start talking and it turns out his aunt also owns a animal shelter. Evie has an old neighbor who has a cat that she always calls Evie over to find. One day Evie and her mom find the cat laying on the side of the road. It had been run over by a car. They bring it back to Mrs. Hamilton and she burries it under a tree. Shanti the cooking instructor invites Evie to her house so she can look at the pets and maybe get one since her dog now lives with her dad and her mom has been lonely. They pick out a dog and bring Mrs. Hamilton to see if she might want to get one. A couple days later Mrs. Hamilton gets a dog.
What I Thought of the Book
I thought the book was very good. It had a lot of action like when her stepmom has twins and when Mrs. Hamilton and Evie both get puppies. I also thought it was cool how and Corey become such good friends from just being cooking partners. One day Corey says got a photograph entered into a museum and he asks Evie if she'd like to go with him to see the exhibit. When Evie takes Mrs. Hamilton to see if she would like to get another cat, I think it's funny how she doesn't get a cat immedietly but instead gets a puppy a couple days later. I thought overall this book was very good. MGPS (2)
