The book, The Candymakers was a really good book about four kids that enter a candymaking contest. Logan is the candymakers son but has no advantage. when he was little someone dropped a toy truck in one of the machines and Logan reached into get it and now has many scars becoause of it. Miles is boy who knows a lot about the afterlife because he once saw a girl go underwater and never say her come back up. Daisy is a girl whose family is all spys and she enters the contest just to find out what the secret ingredient is in the chocolate. The last contestent is a boy named Philip who is mean and all he wants is to win just to be the best in the beginning.The contestents all get a tour of the factory. On the second night of the contest Logan invites Miles to sleepover at the factory. That night Daisy was going to sneak in and take the secret ingredient while Philip was also attempting to do that. It turns out they both meet eachother in the room. Then Logan and Miles see the light and come running in. The reason Philip was doing it is because he didn't want his dad to get it first because down wanted to buy the factory. Then Philip and his dad make an agreement that if he one the contest his dad wouldn't try and buy the factory so then all four of the contestents help finish Philip's candy. He ends up winning and they all tell their secrets like how Daisy was a spy and Philip was the one who put the truck in the machine.
I thought this book was very exciting and a fast read. I thought how all the contestents had personel connections with each other, like how the girl Miles thought was dead was actually Daisy training to be a spy by swimming underwater for a long me and how it was Philips truck that Logan tried to get and burned himself made the book even more exciting. I also thought it was funny how Logan gave Philip the truck back at the end of the book. Overall I thought this book was very good with a really good ending. MGPS (5)
