black beauty is about a horse named Black Beauty who was born and raised with a man named Farmer Grey. Soon he is broken in and sold to a place called Birtwick Park. His new master there is named Squire Gorden whom cares and loves him very much. Mrs. Gorden soon becomes very ill and needs a doctor. James, the stable boy, is sent out on Beauty to go get the doctor in town. Beauty ran his fastest and was very tired when they got to the doctor. The doctors horse was ill and he needed Beauty. So Beauty ran as fast as he could the 8 miles back to Birtwick Park. He is VERY tired now and needs to rest. Joe, the new stable boy, tries his best to aide him. But, he gives him cold water and no blanket. By the time James gets home Beauty is very sick because he got so cold. Over time Beauty gets sold and sold and sold. Finally, he gets sold to a nice old man and his grandson. He stays with them for a year and then is sold to 3 women and their stable boy, who is Joe, and it becomes his permanent home.
this book is very good. I think it is cruel in some parts, but in the end he turns out to be in a good home. LAM (4)
